OSRS Firemaking Training Guide
Understanding the best methods to train Firemaking can save you a lot of time and money. Here’s a breakdown of common strategies:
1. Traditional Firemaking (Lighting Logs)
This method involves simply lighting logs on the ground. It's straightforward but can be click-intensive. Always ensure you have a tinderbox in your inventory.
- Levels 1-15: Normal Logs (40 XP/log)
Start with regular logs. They're cheap and easy to acquire. You'll need about 35 logs to reach level 15.
- Levels 15-30: Oak Logs (60 XP/log)
Oak logs offer a modest XP boost. You'll need around 150 logs from level 15 to 30.
- Levels 30-45: Willow Logs (90 XP/log)
Willow logs become accessible and provide decent XP. Expect to burn about 300 logs from level 30 to 45.
- Levels 45-60: Maple Logs (135 XP/log)
Maple logs are a solid choice for mid-level training. Approximately 600 logs will take you from level 45 to 60.
- Levels 60-75: Yew Logs (202.5 XP/log)
Yew logs are a popular choice for their balance of cost and XP. You'll need about 1,500 logs to reach level 75.
- Levels 75-90: Magic Logs (303.7 XP/log)
Magic logs offer excellent XP rates but come at a higher cost. Around 4,000 logs will get you from 75 to 90.
- Levels 90-99: Redwood Logs (350 XP/log)
Redwood logs provide the highest XP per log. They are expensive but the fastest traditional method. You'll need approximately 24,000 logs from 90 to 99.
2. Wintertodt Minigame (Recommended for 50-99 Firemaking)
Wintertodt is by far the most popular and often recommended method for training Firemaking, especially from level 50 onwards (though you can start at 10). It offers:
- Excellent XP Rates: Competitive with the fastest traditional methods, sometimes even better at higher levels.
- Profitability: You receive supply crates containing various valuable items, including herbs, seeds, ore, and even unique Wintertodt-themed gear.
- No Cost: You don't need to buy logs; the minigame provides them.
- Other Skill XP: While primarily Firemaking, you also gain small amounts of Woodcutting, Fletching, and Construction XP.
- Pet Chance: A chance to obtain the Phoenix pet.
Strategy for Wintertodt:
- Bring warm clothing (Pyromancer outfit, Santa outfit, etc.) to reduce damage from the cold.
- Bring a tinderbox and an axe.
- Focus on fletching logs into kindling for extra Fletching XP before burning them.
- Stay on a Wintertodt world (e.g., world 309).
- Prioritize keeping the braziers lit and repairing them when they break.
3. Fast XP vs. Low Cost
When training Firemaking, you generally have two paths:
- Fastest XP: This usually involves burning the highest-tier logs you can, such as Magic or Redwood logs. This is very expensive but gets you to 99 quickly. Wintertodt also offers very fast XP, often without the high monetary cost.
- Lowest Cost/Profitable: Wintertodt is the clear winner here, as it can be highly profitable due to the supply crates. If you choose traditional methods, cutting your own logs (e.g., Willows or Maples) can reduce costs but significantly increases the time taken.
Important Considerations
- Tinderbox: Always have one in your inventory.
- Pyromancer Outfit: This outfit (obtained from Wintertodt) provides an XP boost of 2.5% when worn, making training even faster.
- Location: For traditional Firemaking, find a long, flat area with few obstacles, such as the Grand Exchange or Seers' Village bank area, to line up your fires efficiently.
We hope this calculator and guide assist you in your journey to 99 Firemaking! Good luck, and may your fires burn bright!
