How Skill Points Work in Borderlands 1
In Borderlands 1, you gain your first skill point upon reaching level 5. From then on, you receive one skill point for each subsequent level up to the maximum level of 69 (with all DLCs), granting a total of 65 skill points to distribute. Each character has three distinct skill trees, each focusing on different aspects of their combat style.
- Action Skill: Unlocked automatically at level 5. This is your character's unique ability.
- Skill Tiers: Each skill tree is divided into 6 tiers. To unlock skills in a higher tier, you must invest a total of 5 points into skills from the preceding tier.
- Skill Ranks: Most skills have 5 ranks, meaning you can put up to 5 points into them to increase their effectiveness. Capstone skills (at the bottom of each tree) often have only 1 rank.
- Synergy: Skills often synergize with each other, making careful planning essential. Consider how your chosen weapons and playstyle will interact with your skill choices.
Lilith's Controller Tree: An Overview
The Controller tree for Lilith, the Siren, focuses on enhancing her Phasewalk action skill, increasing her survivability, and improving her elemental damage output. It's an excellent choice for players who enjoy weaving in and out of combat, disorienting enemies, and unleashing powerful elemental assaults.
Key Skills in the Controller Tree:
- Daze: A foundational skill that gives your Phasewalk a chance to daze enemies, interrupting their attacks and making them easier targets.
- Spark & Phoenix: These skills significantly boost your elemental damage, particularly with corrosive and incendiary weapons. Phoenix, a high-tier skill, creates a fiery aura around Lilith after exiting Phasewalk, dealing continuous damage.
- Resilience & Silent Resolve: Enhance your survivability. Resilience provides damage reduction, while Silent Resolve grants health regeneration and damage resistance when your shields are depleted.
- Mind Games: Further enhances crowd control, giving your melee attacks a chance to daze enemies, extending your tactical options beyond Phasewalk.
- Quicken (Capstone): The ultimate skill in this tree, Quicken drastically reduces the cooldown of your Phasewalk, allowing for more frequent use and greater mobility/utility.
Tips for Building Your Vault Hunter
Crafting the perfect build can be daunting. Here are some general tips to guide your choices:
- Identify Your Playstyle: Do you prefer aggressive close-quarters combat, long-range sniping, or elemental destruction? Your playstyle should dictate your skill choices.
- Focus on Synergies: Look for skills that complement each other. For instance, if you're building an elemental Lilith, skills that boost elemental damage or status effect chance are invaluable.
- Don't Forget Survivability: While damage is fun, staying alive is paramount. Allocate some points into health, shield, or damage reduction skills, especially for higher difficulties.
- Experiment Early: Don't be afraid to try different builds as you level up. You can reset your skill points at any New-U Station for a small fee, allowing for flexibility.
- Consider Your Gear: Your weapon choices and class mods can significantly amplify certain skills. Plan your gear alongside your skill tree.
We hope this calculator and guide assist you in dominating Pandora. Happy Vault Hunting!
