Understanding the AP European History Exam Structure

Long Essay Question (LEQ)
- Number of Questions: 1 (chosen from 3 options)
- Time Allotment: 40 minutes
- Weight: 15% of total exam score
- The LEQ asks you to develop an argument in response to a broad historical question, supported by relevant historical evidence. It is scored out of a maximum of 6 points.
How the Calculator Works
Our calculator uses a weighted raw score conversion method to predict your final AP score (1-5). Each section's raw score is converted to a weighted value based on its contribution to the overall exam score. These weighted scores are then summed to get a total weighted raw score, which is mapped to the approximate score cutoffs for a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.
- MCQ: Your correct answers (out of 55) are scaled to contribute 50% of the total weighted score.
- SAQ: Your total points (out of 9) are scaled to contribute 10% of the total weighted score.
- DBQ: Your total points (out of 7) are scaled to contribute 25% of the total weighted score.
- LEQ: Your total points (out of 6) are scaled to contribute 15% of the total weighted score.
